I’m a Beast Thursday @ Seville

Devin the Dude has a song called 'What a Job', where he, Snoop, and Andre 3000 lace listeners about what it is to be an artist. For those of you who are unfamiliar with The Dude, he's a independent artist who stays on the fray of being major. Now this blog is not about that, but all the independent artist who are out there hustling for your art---big ups to ya, cuzz that's what went down this past Thursday!!!

The night was hot, I don't give a damn!!! Big ups to all the artist who came out and did the damn thang--V-12, Bar None, Dani Cleveland (with Big Wade and Drew) of the Last Few, Devel Crisp, and the new homie P to the B, and of course the big dog of the night--Scottie Pimpin'!!!

You all did the damn thang and gave Omaha something that was greatly needed, we showed that we can party on the northside, and give hottness to our people from our heart and soul!!

I know that it get hard out here, trust ya boy digs that deeper than caskets, but we must continue to grind, hustle, write, hit the studio, do shows, sell cd's out the trunk, and get our bizness right!!!

For the supporters and the crowd--GIVE THANKS!!! Without your support, we can't do this, we do it for the people; so the people's soul, will rise above all this negativity and bullshit!!

I give thanks to all the artist, Club Seville, brotha Odie, whose words lifted my spirit enough so my soul could do it's job, DJ Scottie Pimpin for grindin' out the show, and all the people who reposted flyers, and was in the grind and on the ground with us.....Give Thanks, One Luv and that B it....

nabraska!

Give Thanks to Love Jazz Art Center

I apologize for not writing this last night, so please forgive me. I featured last night at Love Jazz Art Center in celebration of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz (Malcolm X) birthday. It was a wonderful celebration filled with African music, dancing and of course poetry. The people who came out supported the artist by clapping with the music and giving the energy we all needed. I can not say enough positve things about the people who attended; we laughed, and gave soul shakes, conversated, nodded our heads in agreement to speeches, hugged, and appreciated one another to the fullest.

Being home has always been a complex thing for me, but last night, Nabraska came home under brotha Shabazz's bosom and felt safe, good, and appreciated. We know him better as Malcolm, minister, revolutionary, some may even call him an extremist--I know him as a leader, a father, and freedom fighter. It was my honor to take part in honoring him.

I want to give thanks again to all the people who attended, it was a very nice multicultural mix :) and you know I love that fact when I hit the northside. I want to give thanks again to Michelle Troxclair who stuck with me from the A to the Northside, and who is a wonderful poet in her own right. I am so appreciative to the Love Jazz Art Center here, at home, in Omaha, on 24th and Lake.

Bronco

And when the

horse bucks—

watch out ground;

for dirt rises

like December suns,

ice cold, burning;

gleaming and glisening

off of snow banks.

And there is mud;

in the boots

of the rider,

on the pants

of the rider,

on the shirt

of the rider,

in the face

of the rider.

As the horse

stands solid

in solitude

and mud,

with December's

ice cold sun

burning on his back.

The rider looks

upon him

with contempt and love;

but the will

to mount him,

yet again.

The horse,

uneasy

marches in place,

4 hooves in earth,

making mud

rise,

through the air.

Not on my back again.

Not

on my back,

again.

The rider

attempts;

again, and again,

with no

avail.

For in the heart

of the horse,

there is,

not on my back,

again.

Yet, still,

will he ride.
