The reaction and energy of the room, and event was amazing. Even before its onset, the mood remained family, loose, and joyful.

For all my folks who missed the bulletins, post, emails, flyers, and announcements, you missed a wonderful time, and a whale of a show!

Let me pause right here to say a word about them damn Morgan sisters. You ladies are wonderful. Sharon is a wonderful hostess; she put a lot into the show, and I know she has learned much through this experience. Mookie, lady-folks is a beautiful soul; she received the heart-wrenched award for both pieces. Mook, you are amazing! Kabesha…oh lord, Kabesha, Kabesha, Kabesha, you already know, but for the others who have never heard your voice—it is magic. Thank you all for sharing your voices, and doing that song that I know ya’ll get tired of doing, but did it for me anyway. Thank you.

It had been 7 years since I had been to the state of Mississippi, and I had never been to Coldwater, MS. However in true southern fashion, Chrissy’s crowd welcomed us like long lost family. Thank you for coming out, and make sure to tell your folks, so your folks can bring some more folks, for the next time. I had a wonderful time sharing my soul with you, and always remember to raise your red cups when I’m in town!!

Now about the poets…good laaawwwddd, them damn poets!!! (shaking my head) Manny, you a good dude, Eryk didn’t lie. This brotha right here set the tone for the night. His energy and bravery with the crowd was the truth in words spoken. I respect Manny because he’s a stand up poet who wears his heart on his sleeve.
